Train Accidents and Highly Flamable Oil
The train derailment this Monday, Feb. 16, 2015 in Fayette County as shown by the following video provided by WCHS-TV is another devastating accident concerning the transportation of crude oil.
This crude oil was coming from The Bakken in North Dakota which has a higher gas content and higher vapor pressure along with a lower flash point that makes the oil ignite very quickly.
Along with the high volume of oil that is transported by rail and the long distances that it has to travel the chance of these kind of accidents occurring is becoming quite frequent.
This is not something anybody wants to happen in their own back yard but this is literally what is taking place. My intent is to share with you what I have come across and at least it may help in a small way by spreading the awareness of this extremely dangerous issue.
