Texas #1 For Jobs In The Oil and Gas Industry
According to the latest report from the US Energy Information Administration, Texas leads the nation in terms of jobs in the oil and natural gas industry.
In 2013, the state added 19,000 new jobs in the industry.
This figure is six times more than the registered number of jobs added in the industry in New Mexico last year. New Mexico set the second highest number of job created in the industry.
Oil and gas is the only industry that continued to register job growth even as the economy slowed down several years ago. Wages in the industry also registered growth. In 2013, the average wages in oil and natural gas production increased 12%. The average increase in the private sector is only at 10%. The overall growth in the industry can be attributed to the growth in shale production in the United States.
