Skilled Workers Need To be Sourced Out
The skilled worker shortage is not limited to one type of skill set for the oil and gas sectors. Changing operational processes are creating increased demand for highly skilled professionals at every level from the front lines to senior executives.
Businesses struggle to strategically recruit talented workers and new forward thinking best practices are required to analyze and recruit the proper skilled workers for the job that meet a company’s long-term needs.
Companies need to source out highly qualified employees through a procurement type system with the skills training resources such as universities and trades schools. There needs to be diversity in how one obtains new workers and there needs to be an on-going structure to train and upgrade currently employed workers.
Recruitment personnel also need to find ways to focus on managing outside sources and obtain communications skills and understanding of global cultural opportunities that exist. This way you can keep an eye open for hidden gems that may help bring a company to the next level. There are managers and there are highly skilled workers available and it is a manner of finding the winning combination that can work together bringing what each does best to the table.
