Oil And Mining Transparency Law Introduced In Canada
It is not always easy to get laws passed especially ones surrounding industries as important and as complicated as the oil and gas industry. Everyone has interests to protect, the industry, the government, the people, and their interests may sometimes clash. But transparency laws are important to ensure that the interest of one specific group becomes detrimental to the interests of others, especially to the interests of community where the natural resources are.
In October, an oil and mining transparency law was introduced in Canada. Depending on how the law is threshed out, it can be the people’s greatest protection against corruption when it comes to oil and mining projects.
Through the years, all around the globe, it has become clear that high resources translate to wealth for the community when the resources are mined or processed.
With the law, it should be become easy for the people to understand where money from the industry goes. It becomes easier for them to become involved.
