Nomex Coveralls Lightweight For the Summer Heat
As summer is here in full swing you may be interested in some lightweight Nomex coveralls in order to help you with heat stress.
When it comes to protection against flash fires and arc flash the body must have full body protection which means both the upper body and lower body. What better way to achieve this then by the use of coveralls.
There is always a concern about potential heat stress when wearing protective apparel and working in hot conditions and it is always helpful to get some good advice.
There are a few main factors that contribute to heat stress which are temperature, humidity, the weight of garment and type of clothing being worn along with the amount of physical activity being performed.
When heat is generated by physical activity this heat must be lost or dissipated through our skin and clothing for the body to maintain its proper temperature balance. If the body cannot lose all the heat it is building up, then heat stress will occur.
When it comes to the protective clothing the fabric weight has more influence than fabric type in determining when and if heat stress occurs in hot, humid environments. How this is determined is that manufacturers of flame resistant clothing will typically list the weight of the fabric in ounces per square yard (oz/yd2) which is how you can determine the weight of the garment.
For instance Nomex 4.5 oz. coveralls are the lightest weight FR fabric you will find compared to the FR treated material which usually comes in the 6, 7 and 9 oz. weights.
Where the cotton blend fabric will breath better then the Nomex this benefit is taken away by the fact that the cotton blend fabric is much heavier then the Nomex.
Through our experience it is a personal preference because some of our customers prefer the Nomex and some the heavier cotton blends. One factor that does contribute to this that if a person tends to sweat a lot naturally they would be better off with the cotton blend fabric then the Nomex.
You can check the Nomex lightweight coveralls at the following website if you like and if not that’s okay too.
