GOP Victories in US Elections Is Good For The Oil Industry
The victories of the GOP in the US elections is deemed a boon for the oil industry. The Republicans who support the Keystone XL Pipeline project is now at 61; that would give the pipeline project a big boost in terms of legislation. Aside from the pipeline project GOP senators are expected to use their powers to advance the interests of the oil industry.
One such senator is Sen. Lisa Murkowski who is expected to push for the repealing of the ban on crude oil exports. American Petroleum Institute President Jack Gerard was quoted as saying that the new Congress “will waste no time advancing pro-energy, pro-growth agenda.” But not all actions will depend on legislation, congressman reportedly could push for the industry’s agenda through committee oversight hearings.
One example that was provided is how Sen. James Inhofe, who is expected to take over as chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, could use panel hearings to about the Environmental Protection Agency’s plans to limit carbon dioxide emissions and crack down on methane from oil and gas production.
