Electricity Demands For Oil and Gas Boom
Oil and natural gas boom can lead to population growth and in the case of the Permian Basin, a greater demand for electricity. According to the town, it has created a new plan to double its electrical grid capacity.
In a press conference, the Executive Director of the Midland-Odessa Transportation Alliance James Beauchamp said that 75,000 people had already moved to the Odessa and Midland area. The estimate is that by 2030, there will be nearly half a million people in the area. ONCOR’s plan will cost nearly $1.2 billion and will take around 4 years to finish.
The comprehensive plan also covers the town in case the oil and gas industry experiences decline in the future. The town also has long-term plans for the labor issues that may arise during the boom.
